According to info just released from RDC -the Relocation Directors Council (RDC)®  held its 2010 spring conference in Orlando, FL.  110+ relocation professionals gathered to share best practices and industry trends in today’s difficult economic times.

The conference theme was “Rebound, Rebuild, Reposition” and it addressed challenges facing the employee mobility industry.  Topics included “Why Global Matters”, “Ins and Outs of Government Relocations”, “Relocation Practices in the Age of the New Normal”, and “Meeting the Rental Needs of Today’s Corporate Transferees”.

Speakers included Karen Reid, Executive Vice President of Worldwide ERC®, Peggy Smith, newly appointed CEO of Worldwide ERC®, and Cris Collie of Cris Collie Consulting. Jan Ferguson LeQuier of Home Depot, Tracey Gatlin of SIRVA Relocation, and Pam O’Connor of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® addressed “New Relocation Business Models”.  The panel “REOs and their Effect on the Market” was lead by Michelle Sandlin of John Daugherty, Realtors, Johnny Haines of Deloitte LLP; James Gargano, Bomba Gargano Valuations,  and Kathy Connelly of Prudential Georgia Realty.

A splendid time was had by all!

Chicago Agent Magazine’s article “Baird & Warner Earns Multiple International Real Estate Marketing & Website Awards” talked about B&W’s success in a recent Leading Real Estate Companies of the World conference. B&W was honored with three major industry prizes: Best Overall Website, Best Property Search, and Best Property Advertising.

“Bairdwarner.com is an excellent site with extremely high usability” said one of the judges. “It is simple, direct, engaging and packed with useful information that is conveyed using succinct, web-friendly writing. Site is focused on what clients need.”

Jim Schiefelbein, VP/Chief Marketing Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company and reminded how revolutionizing the real estate marketing has been in the past 15 years.

The windy city is host to some great real estate and relocation events next week, beginning with the RELOCATION DIRECTORS COUNCIL all day on Wednesday October 7th, and the EMPLOYEE RELOCATION COUNCIL the 7th through the 9th.  I will have the pleasure of moderating a panel on the dos and donts of social netoworking - Look here next week for a full report.  I am eager to represent Baird and Warner real estate at these events.

The Relocation Directors Council’s (RDC) 2010 RDC Nominating Committee has been appointed by President Judy Gray, CRP. The ten active Board of Directors plus three “members at large” Member-(Tonya Hamilton, CRP, GMS, Susan Rabinovitch, CRP, & Janie Martin) prepare the slate.

This year’s Committee is recommending the following members to serve on the BOD:
John D’Ambrogio,CRP, GMS Director Member Two year term 2010-2011
Annie Hamilton, CRP Director Member Two year term 2010-2011
Susan Rabinovitch, CRP Director Member Two year term 2010-2011

In addition, the following members of the Board of Directors will be moved into new officer positions for 2009:
Judy Gray, CRP Chairman of the Board One year term 2010
Sue Carey, CRP, GMS President One year term 2010
Joan Harpootlian Thomas, SCRP Vice President One year term 2010
Beth Archibald, SCRP, GMS Secretary/Treasurer One year term 2010

Additional nominations will be solicited and welcomed. If none are received, the President will direct the Secretary/Treasurer to cast a unanimous vote to the slate presented by the Nominating Committee.
